Another ecstatic stopover location in the kangra region of himachal , this has been for decades an even cheaper get away for people making it to the region . Infact most of the people who are not weekend travelers like to stay here and commute to and fro to places around as this is a lot cheaper and is well connected, as it is 3 Km drive and about 1.5 km steep trek to Mcleod.
This is the biggest hub of Israeli settlers; people even say this is the biggest Indian base of undercover Jewish intelligence Mossad, as the majority of people living or running their business here are Israelis but what attracted me to them was number of beautiful cafes running here.
A big number of people turn to the place because of 2 famous meditation centers placed here I.e. Vipassana and Tushita. Once a week Dalai Lama visits the centre to meditate and teach his new and old disciples how to go about doing it.
The amazing thing about the place is that it does not even have proper roads or ways on the inside. It is just age old trails knitting the place all land-marked by some shop, home or cafe which helps you in finally locating your destination. The most amazing wood-fire oven pizza’s happen to come from here. The most prestigious name here is Family pizzeria which is almost on the other end of Dharamkot where a family of original residents of Kangra runs this oldest little place and plates the finest and freshest pizza possible.
