What is the biggest problem you feel going back tirelessly to your favorite buffet diner? It is the distance, as these generally don’t have so many branches and same was the case with The ancient barbeque (T.A.B.) which originated in Noida and has finally come up with a branch in Gurgaon which is a very smart move considering the time that would be wasted in the travel for someone who lives on the other end of NCR.

This one is about 170 seater with about 50 of them placed outside giving you panoramic view of the area around which you indulge in grills carefully mastered by chef Nikhil Chopra. The selections are massive if you opt for veg and a little less if you indulge in non veg section but its ok as a few good ones are good enough to hold me back till I want no more.

Pineapple has been the epic centre in both the branches of TAB in earlier one it was the narangi ananas ki chaat and here we have the cinnamon grilled pineapple which is dripping fresh big cuts of pineapple loaded juice and rubbed with fresh grounded cinnamon giving it a taste beyond expectations another experiment turned bright was kachha kela soya shashlik.

From the non greens section it was the Prawn in Hunan style that grabbed my attention as this style is still to catch up in India which is widely known for its pungent smell and color; the prawn was a wonder but what turned out to be even better was the Afghani tangri kawab , the leg piece was so well cooked that even till the last morsel of meat stuck to the bone it was juicy and the softness was beyond par.

Most of the customers are surprised with a dish that is not mentioned in the menu which is Tawa mutton which is tender ribs of mutton stir fried with a thick paste of spices done well. After all this sumptuous meal a good drink cannot be ruled out and hence I had to call for a Banana Mojito, a mild flavoured refreshing drink.

If you still have more potential to go then there is a big range of gravies and rice from the main course section what I suggest having here is the chicken in mushroom sauce and from the veg section it’s the kale moti ka pulao which is fragrant rice with boiled and stir fried kala chana.

The total PLF (pocket loosening factor) is 1300 INR exclusive of taxes for a buffet of 2, the suggestive dishes are cinnamon grilled pineapple, prawn in Hunan style and Afghani tangri. You can contact the place for a prior booking on (0124)4690667.
