Ladakh has a lot of picturesque locales to offers; if you happen to have time to explore, then you must not miss these ones that I explored all in just one days bike ride. These are on Leh-Kargil highway which further leads to Srinagar and could be your chosen route to head back home.

Magnetic hill: This place is 30 km away from Leh, It is a barren patch of land with nothing but a single signboard which was broken around my visit. This is supped to be a place where, if you turn off your car and leave it on neutral, it would roll automatically . The locals and some studies claims that is some very strong magnetic field makes this happen, while the others say it is nothing more than an optical illusion to the bare eyes.
I really can’t comment on what’s true and what’s not but I sure sat in a car around the area and saw the car roll, It would be little tough to believe that it does not happen in reality.

Sangam: The word meets confluence; this is a spot where you see Zanskar river meeting the mighty Indus river. The spot would give a clear view of two separate colored water later merging to one. The Indus, although very pristine and clear as soon as it reaches the Sangam seems saline and muddy when compared to Zanskar.

The Zanskar rolling down from valley of mountains gives a surreal perspective to human eye which is very soothing and I recommend spending some peaceful time here gazing the water flow, it is medicine for your soul.

Likir Monastery: Likir Monastry has a giant sized future Buddha installed on top of the monastery. This one is Golden yellow coloured like the ones in south-east asia. The top of monastery gives a beautiful panoramic view of the valley around and is the apt spot for shooting a time-laspse.

Do not forget to miss the green coloured mountains on the way to Likir, They are unique and are only present in this region.

Alchi: Another monastery tucked away in one corner where not many people visit, atleast not when I was there. The place has some old relics which cannot be photographed but whats unique to the place is trinket stuff. There are few old and unique trinket shops here which sell everything from a simple humming bowl to the finest of jade cutlery which was nowhere to be found in Ladakh.

While working at a tour operator, we sold some tours to Ladakh. Thanks for giving me a better picture of what the travellers experience! You documented it really well. 🙂
Thats kind of you to say Alison, have you been here already???
Hi Bilal, no, not yet… Hopefully a fam trip some day! If so, I’ll definitely hop back on your page before I go!
Hi Alison, it’s interesting to hear about the topic you are trying to explore.. Have you earned any kind of fam trips? How do they even work? Sorry if my questions are stupid 😀
Hi Bilal, no problem – I’ll send you a message through your form!
That’s so kind of you, *hugs*
