The California Boulevard

A very prominent point of car parking ease is what gets one here, away from the regular landing strip of restaurants limited to handful of specific pockets this one’s a fresh breathe of air. The facade is extraordinary and simply cannot be ignored, although a little tough to approach as its entry is somewhat the same entry for IFFCO Metro station but once you reach here, you drop all your hassles right at the gate and enter L.A.’s Rodeo drive.

The place is star studded with posters, murals and art work of Hollywood stars, split in 2 separate floors ground and first, while the ground also has a smoking area. Once you take a seat and have a sizable look all around, you would clearly feel that a lot of money has been pumped into the interior works of the place which somehow “ups the ante” of the place, as compared to the rustic feel of places doing rounds these days.

Sushi paneer
Sushi paneer

The menu is a clever twist of major old school hits, where little modifications help them stand out of the crowd; part of the menu is new and carries the best from around the globe which a lot of people might be apprehensive to try.  I started my order with Sushi Paneer a dish which would simply shock a Japanese but would be totally loved by an India, Shreads of cottage cheese in a thin wrap they taste absolutely mesmerizing and could be paired very well with the onion or garlic jam derived by their Chef Karen Rawat .

Ganderi kebab
Ganderi kawab

From the Non-vegetarian section it was the Ganderi Kawab this is something that has recently caught the eye of culinary world and everyone wants to try it. The taste of it was unbalanced to me, with the sweetness of sugarcane taking over the mild spices of kawab; I would have expected the kawab to be more pungent with their base spices. Somehow as a Punjabi coming from the land of Awadhs I am very judgmental about the food from the region, they might be really good for the majority but it was a slight miss for me atleast. The Prawn Agilo on the other hand tastes every-bit as described in the menu with a hint of tangy sauce and a bed of cheese this is your perfect healthy starter.

An Apple Cinnamon ice-tea is clearly the winning drink here which you must not underestimate. This is something that gives you ample time to sip into something cold and healthy and tastes amazing while you flip through the ultra extensive menu of 300+ dishes and decide where to go next.

Herb crusted gratinated salmon stake
Herb crusted gratinated salmon stake

In the mains section the Herb-Crusted Salmon Stake is your dish if you love the mild flavours of Salmon and with herbs and mustard sauce. The Indian section also has wonders like Peanut Butter Panner as well as chicken which can be bravely coupled with an Oregano or Chipotle Nan as per your desire. From the desserts I tried the Thai Tab Tim Grob which is shreds of coconut and water-chestnut in coconut milk and is bound to make you dreamy and mushy.

The PLF for the place is 2000 INR for 2, the place can be contacted on 011 (33106443) for any bookings and the suggested orders are Sushi Paneer, Herb-Crusted Salmon & Tab Tim Grob.

        Hi Bilal,
Full-time job and all parts of media, restrict my time; not to mention gardening: dry season, watering a HUGE garden. I am sorry that I didn’t comment before, not much time…But I enjoyed this one with delicious meals and really good food photography…
        Thank you! Happy weekend 🙂

          • Beth

Hi Bilal, I didn’t think so really. Here is my garden: From Google = 5000 m² = 1.235521965 ac²… It is huge…

After war village house, I’m sorry I don’t understand that.. Care to explain? 🙂

          • Beth

My house was built in 1965. We call that after war…Meaning The Second World War. We restored it as much as we could: new kitchen, bathroom …it’s a big house though for one person.
A fine weekend to you 😀

          • Bilal
